You can't really call the system "future proof" with its already inferior RAM. Now, if they start selling extra RAM for it, like an old computer, you may stretch some life out of it... Otherwise, it's going to quickly show its age as the next gen hits and trounces its rendering soundly (while they haven't turned away, 3rd party hasn't exaclty busted their hump to overcome this obstacle, showing in the inferior graphics in PS3 multiplat games).
