PS1 came out at the start of 1995. You're telling me PS1 games were coming out in 2006? 6 Years after the PS2 was released? It did get a few PS2 ports in and rereleases 2002 but most if not all developers had moved on by then.

PS2 has gotten alot of support past the PS3's release, but it was mostly due to the PS3's underwhelming sales. Now that the PS3 has gained ground, support will drop, save a few rereleases and ports for a short time in the future.

I guess in the literal sense of First and last game released you could count these systems lasting 10 years but there's no way any "generation" is going to last that long. And yeah. Sony does lie. As does Nintendo. And Microsoft. They are companies. It's just what they do.

You know it's not hard to do a little bit of research.

The PlayStation (abbreviated PS, PSone, PS1, or PSX due to its internal code name PlayStation Experimental[9]) is a 32-bit fifth generation video game console released by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 1994.[1] The name "PlayStation" is the opposite of the existent word "workstation".

The PlayStation was the first of the ubiquitous PlayStation series of console and handheld game devices. which was first created and released in Japan. Successor consoles and upgrades include the Net Yaroze, PS one, PSX, PocketStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and the PlayStation 3. On March 31, 2005, the PlayStation and PS one reached a combined total of 102.49 million units shipped,[6] becoming the first video game console to reach the 100 million mark.[10] As of July 20, 2008, the PlayStation has sold 102 million units.[5] Sony ceased production of the PlayStation on March 23, 2006, over 11 years after it was first produced.

The PlayStation 2 ("PS2") is a sixth-generation video game console manufactured by Sony. The successor to the PlayStation, and the predecessor to the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 2 forms part of the PlayStation series of video game consoles.

Its development was announced in March 1999 and it was released a year later in Japan.

The PS2 is the best-selling console to date, having reached over 136 million units sell-in as of the end of December 2008[2] and a software library projected to exceed 1,900 games in 2009.
