what utter nonsense. it all boils down to what you believe. if developers know that the PS3 will be around for ten years then they will support that strategy, just like they did with the PS1 and are doing with the PS2...

Cliff, longevity is consumer driven.   Sony won't support it if the consumers no longer want it and the developers won't support it if the consumers no longer buy their products.    Sony can only take it as far as consumers will allow it.   Sony doesn't dictate how long it lasts...we do.

That's right. And since the PS3 is selling on par with the 360 at double the price it is just as likely that the 360 won't last as long either. PS3 AND 360 going to die? No fraid not. PS3 is a great addition to HD adopters. While Wii is great for Wii fit and Wii sports.

It's not Sony's fault that Wii is getting paltry 3rd party support.

According to NPD, the average sale price of the X360 in the US is $270 meaning most X360 buyers are buying the higher end models, not the $200 Arcade SKU.   While $270 is still cheaper than the $400 price tag of the PS3, it should be understood the X360 is not half the price of the PS3 with regard to actual retail sales.

The above is based on US retail and sales only.   The situation may differ in other nations.

And why the Wii 3rd party jab?

The average price is $270? I know that the Arcade accounted for 50% of 360 sales. And btw there's different PS3 SKUs as well. Or did you forget about the $500 model?

The Arcade only made 50% of sales over the holidays.  Throughout the rest of the year it has been the Pro/Premium consoles.  Oh and btw, there is only one PS3 SKU.  The $500 160GB model was temporary and is no longer sold unless your stores have a big overstock from poor holiday sales of that SKU.
