This is sorta on topic.
Piracy isn't whats 'ruining' the industry. Nothing is ruining it. There are alot of crappy games out there because shovelware only has to sell a few thousand copies to make a profit. Awesome epic games on the other hand require almost impossible perfection to sell enough to make a profit let alone good profit. Companies are selling mediocre cheep games just to support those epic flagship games. It's economics.
Nintendo understands this to the extreme and has for the most part taken the bottom long tail of the game industry by storm. They've perfected the shovelware to mid level game. The Wii is basically supporting the great epic level games for the PS3/X360. That won't last for long though. Eventually MS and SONY will try to reclaim a piece of that part of the market. And maybe Nintendo will come out with more than a small handful of good games for a change.
