That's what I don't understand. Going into e3, a large proportion of this forum is saying that Sony will dominate E3 (then, again, there is a growing number in PS3 fanboys here).
That doesn't make any sense, the biggest E3 victories came from unannounced stuff that blew people away, "megatons" if you will. The most important one that's shaped the gaming landscape in the past 15 (I think) years was the PS1's launch price back in the day. The most recent one was FF13 at E3.
The important E3's (they all are to a certain extent) are won by announcements. Remember folks, Sony can't reannounce Ratchet and Clank, GoW3, uncharted 2, GT5, FF13, VS and TRICO gameplay footage has leaked or been available for some of them already.
Given that their release schedule for the rest of 09 and 10 is quite packed, do you really think they'll announce much more? maybe 1 title at most and it has to be MASSIVE for them to "win" E3. MGS5 maybe? Other than the possibility of that game I don't see.
We know of about 3 high profile releases for the 360 (ODST, Alan Wake and Conviction) and 1 high-ish for the Wii (Sin and Punishment 2), and they don't even have a release date yet, just a broad release window.
I think this E3 will be a big Sony loss ONLY because they don't need to announce anything, therefore all the hype generated by the PS3 fanboys will result in nothing but "revealing" footage of games and not new games. The balls in MS and Nintendo's court to take this E3 on and win it. THe only thing I forsee giving Sony the win for this E3 is whatever Kojima is doing or a immediate worldwide simultaneous price cut.
I'm sure Nintendo have something more than just another Zelda up their sleeve.
