The table function has always been pretty shot (intended spelling) on here.... but then on the other website I have been a member of there isn't a table function at all.
However it was workable, if a little temperemental before, but now the only way to make a cell the colour you want is to use the "cell properties" button.... but as this can only do 1 cell at a timeit isn't the easiest of options.
For instance:

(lets see if some text put here first will let me type after) - huzzah!
We also can make borders around specific cells, so as the tables background only really applies to a thick outline around cells, we get a double border.
