Sony probably gains some money in royalties for that, being part of the consortium, although I have no idea of how much and if IBM/Toshiba have a greater share of the Cell business than Sony.

Is anyone using it in a mass produced product? Or are you just pointing out that some scientists are using it for experimental purposes? I have yet to see a product on shelves that uses the cell other then the PS3. Do you have a link I can look at? I'm curious as to who would benefit at all from going with the Cell now that it's not going to see the massive price reductions the PS3 could have afforded it.
