I used to live in Albuquerque, and I always thought it was funny when people who's ancestors came from spain hundreds of years ago would get upset when you said they were Mexican decent, and correct you.

The reason I found it funny is two fold. One is there is nothing wrong with being of Mexican decent, and second is, they were.

Albuquerque, for a time, was part of Mexico, so if you had family born in Albuquerque at that time, they were Mexican, and you are decedents of them.

Why that fact bothers people, I have no idea.
