Actually once you've added the cost of a wireless network adapter, wireless headset, play and charge kit, 3 years worth of xbox live and a bluray standalone player it's insanely more expensive and of course every single gamer needs all those accessories (not to mention they must buy the elite for the bigger HDD). So by this logic (which I'm pretty sure you and many other fanboys have persistantly used these last few years) the 360 is doing amazing outselling the two cheaper consoles.
What I actually see is the PS3 has less perceived value at it's price point than the 360 does right now hence why it's selling less in the 2 main territories. To answer your question, by the time the PS3 is $299 the 360 will still be cheaper and selling on par or better. Neither console is going to die off and both are selling crap compared to the Wii as always anyway. Come back when the PS3 has outsold the 360 for a year then we'll take you seriously.
