What would be interesting is if all the sequels to games were removed, to see how many games each system would have this generation.

Nintendo would be minus their heavy hitters - Mario, Zelda, SSBB, Metroid 3, animal crossing, punch out, RE4, more...

MS would be without Halo, GTA, Gears of War 2, Street Fighter, Soul Caliber, Re5 more, ...

Sony would be without - Resistance 2, KZ2, GTA, MGS4, RE5, Gran Turismo, god of War, Street Fighter, Silent Hill, more...

Most of these systems wouldn't have much to support themselves without sequels (many of which barely change much beyond graphics - the complaint the OP had) The only system that would do well is the Wii, and only because of its big first party casual titles like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc.

People love sequels, even if its pretty much the same game repackaged with pretty graphics. This applies to all systems.
