What's amazing is that Sonic is still a highly recognized icon despite his glory days being so long ago.

Agreed, it sort of makes me cringe inside when i see the shameful way in which Sonic is used to sell games these days. Back in the ol' day a Sonic  game made me tingle with anticipation, nowadays i totally disregard its release and yet kids still love him despite the awful games he stars in. Honestly cant understand it.
