usually if a sequel gets the same score as the original game it's a better version of the original... but if the sequel provides ZERO new content (only new name/story) reviewers will usually give it a lesser scrore than what the original got even though they might be the same.
they may say that they review games each on it's own but they DO compare sequels, i remember god of war 2 was compared to GoW1, and even though GoW2 was better (more waepons, better graphics... etc) they gave it a worse score because they though it was too similar to the original... if it was the same as the original it would have gotten an even worse score.
so... that basically that means that if you're gonna get one or the other, you're better off getting the sequel
