The fact that they still look good is more a reflection of the really good choices made by Retro rather than a reflection of Wii's limitations or the badness of other developers. Why should we be concerned if most developers can't match the artistic skills of Retro? There are plenty of games on the HD systems that don't look as good as Metroid Prime 3 from an aesthetic standpoint despite being technically far superior. Why don't we chastise those developers for not hiring as good artists as Retro. Metroid's visuals are still good because they focus on a timeless element, art. |
My sentiments exactly. I have gone back and played the GC Metroid games, and the graphics haven't aged as much as other games. It is a testament to Retro Studios skills to make a game so beyond it's time.
