PS: Sony and Microsoft helped the industry as much as NIntendo did

You don't know what you're talking about

i do! otherwise i wouldnt post

No, Bong Lover is right. Let's look at the history of gaming briefly:

Nintendo revived a dying market in the 1980's. They introduced controller standards that are still used to this day, albeit in modified forms. They introduced the concept of portable gaming consoles. They have constantly innovated controls, even with the current DS and Wii. Nintendo knows how to make people feel young, and in a good way.

Sony has... well... been the big catalyst of the current industry problem. Sega started the arms race with the Genesis, but they knew enough to keep substance. Sony saw that by throwing away said substance, they can make it even prettier! Reviewers loved this; it made their jobs easier, thus, the higher scores. (This also explains the current low scores for Wii games- they actually have to play the games with an effort!) And this rush to graphics has spiraled out of control, making games too hard to profit off of. This is Sony's legacy, down to the huge losses on the current PS3.

Microsoft only did 1 major contribution to gaming, and that was mastering console gaming online. Sure, the Dreamcast was first, but it didn't take off for consoles until XBox with Live. Otherwise, Microsoft has also been around the least amount of time in gaming, so it's harder for them to make more of an actual legacy, though their current direction doesn't indicate that they will...

Yes Nintendo saved the industry 20 years ago, but if Sony didn't entered in 1995 with PlayStation, Nintendo would just continue with their strategy and industry would become smaller and smaller every year. If Sony didn't entered, Microsoft wouldn't either, so the winner would be GameCube with only 22 million sold and there would be no Wii because Nintendo wouldn't have to change their tactics.  If you look at Nintendo consoles, the next one always sold less than previous one.

NES sold more than SNES, SNES sold more than N64, N64 sold more than GameCube, GameBoy sold more than GameBoy colour...

So the industry would keep getting smaller and smaller IF Sony didn't entered.

Microsoft improved industry by bringing the online gaming, which IS the future of gaming.
