Good games never get old.

Good game CONCEPTS don't get old.  However, a game that was good at one time, can get stale now.  Sometimes it is useful to slap a new coat of paint on a game.  Like Kaboom now is dated, but was real good on the 2600.  I would say Warlords, however, has held up better.

I think also of Lode Runner.  The latest update refreshes the game.

That's why I said GOOD games a good game is well planned and has a good concept. It has a broader appeal to the masses, has quality time invested and it just works. ex: Pac man, super mario bros, the almighty tetris, the dragon quest series (at least in japan)..

And what I am saying is that sometimes GAMES get old, but the CONCEPT, if reworked or refined, will end up getting a boost and still be good.  Take Geometry Wars for example.  It is pretty much Robotron meets Asteroids.  It works.  It works now, AS A GAME, because the concept is good, but it has been polished with updated music and high definition graphics.  Same can be said for Super Stardust.  If we were to stick with just Asteroids, I am not sure people would think it be that good today.  Asteroids NOW is on the dull side.  However,  when revamped in Super Stardust, it works better.  Tempest 2000 is another example actually.  The revamping of Tempest in Tempest 2000 makes for it being good.

Again, a good concept, reworked and updated.  Latest Pac Man on XBox Live would count.  I believe the reworking of Galaga isn't as good though.
