This is all purely speculative (can't help myself, it's fun to come up with theories), but...
I think that it's easier to be ideological and "buy american" when presented with two products of minimal difference in value in your eyes and hence no significant sacrifice is made. This is why I suspect the wii (and most game systems usually) remains unaffected except at the margins. Although, the larger portion of female (who in political polls I've seen over the years statistically tend to be less nationalistic than men in the US) wii ownership may also be a factor.
