Because you can't harp on the failings of the PS3 without doing the same to the 360 because it's pretty much in the same boat. The PS3 is being destroyed by the Wii? So is the 360. The PS3 is selling poorly? So is the 360. The 360 hasn't made a profit either. It's had profitable quarters, but overall it's still in the red. As a matter of fact, MSFT's E&D division posted a 31 million dollar loss last quarter. So yeah, the PS3 isn't turning a profit? Neither is the 360. But fine, let's have it your way. Sony decides not to waste anymore money on consoles and leaves the market. As a result, you don't have a rallying point when your precious 360 faces the ass whoopin' from the Wii all by itself.

That is actually pretty debatable. Microsoft doesn't actually release seperate earning reports for the xbox division, but lumps them in with the entire E&D division. There is actually quite a bit of evidence if you delve into their financial reports that supports the xbox brand making huge sums of profit for microsoft. The E&D is just loaded down with costs of failed projects and expenses from other divisions within microsoft.
Here, this is a thread that goes into detail on what kind of profit microsoft might be making. Of course, like I said, can't know for sure because microsoft doesn't actually release those numbers, but the evidence supports a lot of profit.

Edit: lol, I just realized you were posting in the thread I linked, but you weren't really comprehending what the people were saying. Either way though, if you actually read through the posts you will see there is at least more evidence supporting profit rather than loss.
