How do you know this, did you interview each and every person that bought it, did you take a survey? Do you have any proof at all??? Didn't think so...
As for the rest of your post, visuals does not mean how much technology goes into it, something on the SEGA Gen can be more visually pleasing to the eye then some of the games now... As for the games you listed they're noteworthy for their gameplay, their visuals look generic HD games...

Uhhh... probably because Mario games are known for having outstanding sales. While Sega games tend to have mediocre sales. Must you disagree with everything?

Visually satisfying is the key terms there, 2D games are visually satisfying, Bioshock was noteworthy cause it had good gameplay and story, Mirrors Edge had good gameplay, again I've yet to see anything visually pleasing come from the engine outside of Epics own games.. |
I get what you're saying, but I think those games look great.
