I think you are missing the big point. If you look at the total numbers of all consoles you realize one important fact: It doesn't matter anymore! The big winner is Nintendo. And if you look at the absolute numbers you see that it siumply doesn't matter who sells more. Both consoles are in a situation that third party companies will go to the PS-3 AND the Xbox360. The financial risk to produce big titles for only one console is pretty severe! Sony can decide: do they want to earn money, than they might have to go multi to, otherwise they must be ready that their games could produce losses!

It seems insame: The game industry booms but most companies have severe losses! They don't need to get better. but they have to get cheaper! It no longer counts where the real hardware limits of the plattforms are, but how are the costs to achieve this performance?
