SNES and Genesis were cool I especially love the stuff on Secret of Mana/FFVI and Chrono trigger and the Konami stuff like Axelay/ganbare goeman and Castlevania but musicians for the SNES overused the reverb on the chip which put me off a bit..
I much prefer the music chip coming from the pc engine/turbo grafx when done right..
