I'm sure part of the issue is the delta between planning and funding, and development and release. They probably started planning nearly 2 years ago.
These would be the games released as game companies investigated the feasibility of hardcore on Wii. Remember that lots of companies were blind-sided by the Wii success and hadn't appropriated funded titles on what fairly quickly became the most prolific console this gen.
Whether you see more hardcore games (beyond a token few every year) will definitely depend on the sales of this current wave of titles. Mad World isn't a good omen, but that's a single title. Haven't the Resident Evil ones done well?
