As Smeags isn't doing it this week, I'll do the numbers (WoW, YoY). He normally makes it into another thread, but I'll keep it here.
Worldwide week over week (left side = last week, right side = current week)
Wii: 230K - 222K - Down 8K - Down 3.5%
X360: 116K - 111K - Down 5K - Down 4.3%
Ps3: 107K - 100K - Down 7K - Down 6.5%
PsP: 133K - 124K - Down 9K - Down 6.7%
DS: 408K - 371K - Down 37K - Down 9%
Year over Year (same setup)
Wii: 395K - 222K - Down 173K - Down 43.8%
X360: 161K - 111K - Down 50K - Down 31.1%
Ps3: 183K - 100K - Down 83K - Down 45.3%
PsP: 208K - 124K - Down 84K - Down 40.3%
DS: 414K - 371K - Down 43K - Down 10.3%
Heavily down all around the board.
So far in quarter 2 (compared to same period last year)
Wii: 2602K - 1417K - Down 1185K - Down 45.5%
X360: 871K - 773K - Down 98K - Down 11.3%
Ps3: 1088K - 741K - Down 347K - Down 32%
PsP: 1432K - 815K - Down 617K - Down 43%
DS: 2593K - 3490K - Up 897K - Up 34.5%
Industry as a whole: 8586K - 7236K - Down 1350K - Down 15.7%
And the fact that many good games were released during this period last year (compared to the other periods of that year) doesn't really work, as the 3 quarters saw pretty much equal sales last year. Of course, the point of this year having a lack still stands (to some extent).
Either way, this is pretty interesting.
When I write Fact: in one part of the post, and opinion: (or a similar word), it's not because I can then say "my opinion can't be wrong". It is to inform what part is pure facts, and which part I try to draw a conclusion in.
