That would be expensive. Being that Sony is still losing money, it's not overpriced.

Expensive is having too high a price. Overpriced would be a company charging a high price to earn more profit. The Wii, DS, and PSP are overpriced.

The reason Sony's console is so expensive is because of the Blu-Ray device. The reason Sony put the Blu-Ray device in the console is so they could own the next home video medium. The reason they wanted to own that, is because it would make them far more profit than a first place console ever could.

So yes, the PS3 is expensive, because Sony is trying to make huge profits on Blu-Ray, by introducing it via the PS3.

It is a simply seperation by degree, but the PS3 is "overpriced" by your logic, if you look at the Blu-Ray addition as an attempt to garner profit though early adoption by gamers.

Yes, but they are still losing money on the PS3. And until they're making significant profit on it at the $400 price, then I don't think it can be called overpriced.

(Of course, you can still think expensive things aren't worth it)
