Hello! I'd like a PS3 for $199.

I can understand and agree with that. Given only 3 games appeal, I'd hold off unless you really want to play them; the games will still be around in a year or so, after all. Personally, there is much more to the PS3 than three games, but that's my situation, not yours.

It seems likely you have a prolonged wait ahead as a $199 prices seems far off; but console yourself that more games are likely to join your list of 3 as the months go by -- the PS3 seems to have many exclusives coming its way in the next year or two.

That's very true. I'll hope for a price drop to $299 and see if more games I want pop up. I'm also going to considering getting one used once the price drops somewhat, like ShadowSoldier said.

Yeah, good idea. The PS3 is a pretty reliable piece of kit, so the normal worries of buying 2nd-hand are less of an issue. Also, for the record, Uncharted is good, but not the be-all-and-end-all that many claim, so I'd not use it as an excuse to buy now rather than later. That said, Uncharted 2 does look bloody good, but as it's not released for a while; I can't say anything about inFamous as I've not played it yet (but will the second it's released).

If I were you, I'd check out the E3 news when it comes and see if anything PS3-related interests you. If it does, there is bound to be some awesome deals in the run up to Christmas when all the new games get released. You never know, you may get something cheap(ish) around then. However, it will be nothing like $199, I expect.

 

Since I'm going to check Microsoft's and Nintendo's press conference, I might as well keep my eyes on the Sony conference too, like I did last year. I'm sure E3 will bring lots of good stuff for all gamers ^^
