Lets just break down the numbers.

Saturn was a dual-core RISC CPU (pretty cool for that time) at 28,6mhz
PS1 was a single-core RISC CPU at 33,8mhz

The GPU is more complex matter, PS1 had more RAM for the GPU and had cach. THe Saturn used 2 GPUs.

Would say that it was easier to tap the power of PS1 then Saturn. Multi-thread code at that time wasn't often used.

So even if Saturn looks stronger on paper it never really turned ot that way, to complex. Comparing to people complaining about PS3 being more complex then 360 the Saturn makes PS3 look like childs play due to the structure in that time.

Then the N64 was a 64-bit 94mhz CPU. But since they let you use a 32-bit structure and making the game 64bit required double ram and cach. most games where 32-bit.

It used 8mb om RAMBUS.

But in the end N64 was twice the machine on the paper as PlayStation 1



Predictions for 2009:

360: 39-42 PS3: 31-34 Wii: 67-70

Future projection

Wii will hit 100 million before christmas 2010 (made december 2008)

NDS Family will have sold and shipped more then PS2 at the end of 2009 (made january 2009)
