What do you really know about high performance car handling at 200MPH to say anything on the subject and know what you're saying is correct? The only person here that may have some real life claim to know what he's talking about is tarheel, but I'm fairly sure almost everyone else in this thread is merely speaking taglines and knows very little to nothing about the real life counterpart to these games to give any informed opinion on even something as important as handling.

 

Haha, I haven't touched 200mph  (my car can only do 148, and I've only touched 125ish), but very few cars can.  I do admit, though, that my reason for finding GT better is very hard to explain.  It's very hard to put into words how a car feels and what it should do.  It, obviously, goes far beyond turning when you turn and breaking when you brake.  The way the car reacts to your input, the way it interacts with the road, etc. is much closer to reality in GT than in Forza.


Edit: I'm not saying Forza is bad by any means.  It's a great series.  I just find GT better.

Oh really...well my friend who works on cars had a lot to say about GT4 while we were still in high school. Unfortunately he's at Cal Poly and I'm not as experienced in cars as him. I do remember the Ebrake in GT4 is considered more of a Miracle break, can pull you out of understeer. An Ebrake in real life would be so different it's incomparable. Until GT4 the GT series was more of a arcade game, while I believe Forza came out with the intention as a sim. If you ask me both are hogwash as the OP has said before PC sims destroy both games. Anyone trying to compare and saying their game is better than the other is just being an elitist prick in my opinion, trying to win an empty prize for "best console racing sim" Give me a break. If you really care about racing, cars, or sims you can spend $400 or $200 on an Xbox or PS3 but not $150 on a 900 degree steering wheel? Shoot i bet even the cheapest Pirelli wheels cost more than a forcefeedback 900 degree wheel. Sorry for the rant but topics like Forza vs GT really make me cynical.

 

I grew up playing racing games.  The first time I was introduced to a GT game was GT2 on the PS2.  Before that, I had played a lot of Cruisin' and such.  Let me say, for its time, GT2 was definitely one of the best sims out there.  Sure, it hasn't aged well with time, but it is anything but an arcade game.

I never really bothered with the emergency brake in GT4.  No one in their right mind would use an E-brake while racing unless their brakes gave out and they needed to stop.  Thus, I never really considered using it in GT4, so I can't comment.

 

In regards to the second half of your coment, that logic is entirely faulty.  "If you were really into racing, you'd buy a wheel" could be turned very easily into "if you were really into racing, you'd skip the games and save up for a better car/mods for your car."  An X360 or PS3 plays far more games than a single racing sim.  Thus, the cost is spread out over many games.  You probably only pay $65 for the game (including a portion of the console's cost).  On the other hand, a racing sim on the PC will cost however much the game costs plus a good $200 for a good racing wheel.  I don't see $250 and $65 as similar purchases, sorry.
