I am pretty sure Matt choose this image because it may be misleading. It doesn't looks a creature to me. The left flesh coloured pillar at the left might be a leg but the right one doesn't seem organic. Seems to have two cylinders one over the other. Also, the dark space in the middle is part of the background. The so called sword seems more like electricity to me.
The left side might be a man slightly bended but the overall picture may be some sort of portal. Impossible to tell without more information.
