Can Sony afford to sell a $300 PS3 though? Doesn't sound like it will help the debt PS3 made.

 

Increased revenue from increase PS3 software sales will more than make up for losses on PS3 hardware sales. The cost of production of PS3 towards end of 2009  should be close to $350 per PS3 unit and the cost per unit would be expected to drop lower over future revisions.


But MS and Nintendo could also drop their prices. That's a risk that could hurt Sony even more so. My guess is Sony will play it safe and keep selling it for $400 at least for the rest of the year. The PS3 isn't breaking records but at this rate the PS3 might see a profit.
