Yes, you're absolutely right, Sony as a company is doing fine, and the only reason they've made some losses (which everyone knows are pretty meaningless anyway), is because of the costs involved with a PS3 redesign. /sarcasm
Really now. When I said they 'can't really spare' that kind of money at the moment, I was just saying they are in an extremely tight financal situation, of course they might be able to spare money to redesign their console, but seeing how they're already bleeding money, and a redesign is not guaranteed to boost sales in the long run, Sony might opt not to spend tons of money, but instead focus on different strategies to improve sales. Of course they could afford to do a redesign, it's a big company with deep pockets. But would they be willing to? I wasn't ruling out any redesigns, just saying I was doubting Sony would consider doing it. Read my original post above and see. As much as some people would like to see a redesign, Sony is a company out there to make money, not cater to the whims of fans.

the point is you dont know what sony is doing. for all we know sony could already be spending money on R&D for a redesign. in other words they wouldnt need to spare anything at all since its pointless to finance 2 reasearch teams doing the same thing. and even if it doesnt increase sales in the long run it would still greatly benifit sony by cheaper production and cheaper shipping by lighter boxes and more product per create lear business
