I find it super sad when World of Crapcraft is BY FAR the most successful game on PC... Oh and counterstrike. It's like taking a trip back in time 7 years.

World of Warcraft is BY FAR the most successful game on ANY platform. Not only that, but it is also more successful than the entire MGS, Halo and GTA franchises combined. That's how big WoW is.

World of Warcraft isn't even in the league of franchises that sold over 50 M copies (You can even be cheap and add its sales with the original Warcraft). It is not the most succesful game on any platform. Mario is the have yet to be surpassed with over 200 M copies in its franchise sold, with Pokemon close behind it. The Sims has even sold more copies that WOW, are you kidding me? Half-Life has even outsold the World of Warcraft MMO franchise.

The Sims>WOW>StarCraft>Half Life>Guild Wars>Myth>Counter Strike (PC games)

WOW and Guild Wars are huge because people pay them monthly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games

Top ten best-selling video game franchises:

1. Mario (201 million)

2. Pokémon (186 million)

3. The Sims (100 million)

4. Need for Speed (Almost 100 million)

5. Final Fantasy (85 million)

6. Grand Theft Auto (70 million)

7. Madden NFL (70 million)

8. Tetris (70 million)

9. FIFA (65 million)

10. Tom Clancy (55 million, includes Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell franchises)

Of course, but we're talking about copies sold.

You are so wrong. In terms of profit, World of Warcraft no doubt made more money than Halo, GTA and MGS franchises combined!!! We are NOT talking about copies sold because only less than half of WoW costumers buy or need to buy the game.

World of Warcraft is bigger than any console franchise, profit-wise and  popularity-wise.

First of all, I never stated that Halo made more money than WOW. Secondly, the first three Halo games outsold WOW's first game with expansions in copies sold (even without PC versions, or Halo Wars). Over 22 million copies really. There...now I said it. If you're talking about premiums on games, then really you shouldn't put WOW up against Halo or any series, because of the constant monthly cashflow, when the competition doesn't have premiums themselves. WOW is very profitable, I agree; however, I call bullshit on that game being bigger than any console game.
