How many games do you buy monthly?
On average, two to three each month. During the early part of the year, I tend to buy one to two games, while during the latter half of the year, two to three games.
On which platform(s) and where do you buy them from?
Across all current platforms (X360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP), although I tend to prefer console games over portable. DS and PSP games are played on the way to-and-from work, or before I fall asleep at night. Console games are for longer sessions. Games are purchased from GameFly, so that I can test them out and make sure I like them before spending money. Since GameFly discounts the price of their games, the monthly subscription fee is usually a wash. If you’re going to buy at least one game each month, there’s no reason to not use GameFly.
In the event that I pick up an older game (6+ months), then Amazon.com is the store of choice (because the prices are so low, especially with Super Saver shipping) or, if truly desperate, my local BestBuy. Under no circumstances will I give EB Games or GameStop my money or used games.
Oh and do you finish all your games before buying new ones?
Seldom, although I am making a concerted effort to do that more often… as well as going back to complete unfinished games. I’d love to get to a stage where I complete every game before moving onto the next experience… but with so many great games coming out each month, it’s difficult to narrow down picking up only one game.
Do you trade your old games?
Never ever… because you’ll never get your money’s worth. If anything, I will give old games that I no longer want to friends or family (especially if they cannot afford them).
