As you can see Nintendo had $4+ billion in profit in the fiscal year of 2008 alone, while Sony had $2+ billion in profit between 1996 and 2008.

 

Its not entirely accurate to compare two dedicated games divisions with EDD which is a division in itself which bears much of the R+D costs and little of the revenue.
