Nintendo - Wii Software - View Post

I said before that I don't believe in System Sellers ... Potentially the biggest game in North America in several years (Halo 3) probably boosted total hardware sales of the XBox 360 by 250,000 units. If a system is going to sell well it will sell well; it won't wait for a system seller to boost sales to a level where it can finally achieve "dominance".

Right now Nintendo has done an excellent job of releasing established game series (Zelda, Mario, Mario Party, Wario Ware, Super Paper Mario, Metroid, and Super Smash Bros.) as a way to motivate buyers, and there are signs that this will continue into 2008 with games like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing. What is taking a while because of lack of foresight is high quality third party games which are starting to trickle in ...

In 2008 I would expect to see 2 to 4 times as many high quality established third party games released on the Wii as we have seen so far; certainly this won't be the best third-party line-up ever but it will be a drastic improvement over what Nintendo platforms have seen since the SNES and could (potentially) be better than the PS3 or XBox 360's third party line-ups.
