Sony markets the crap out of its new motion controller over the holidays. Shows that the PS3 has Movies, Games, Music, Internet, Home, TV, 3D, and more. 3. Sony drops the price to $299 after the 45nm RSX hits, with PS3 momentum at an all time high already, the price cut busts open the flood gates(tentative Febuary 2010). 4. Sony contiunes to profit, a slim PS3 is launched in Spetember of 2010 at a $249 price point. 5. September 2011 Sony makes the move to a unified Cell RSX chip, at 32nm, swittches to SSD's which are now cheaper to produce than HDD's, and drops the PS3 price to $149. That = PS3>Wii in the end, in Japan at least. Bonus factor - 3rd parties sell way better on PS3. Japan publishers will go PS3 exclusive on many titles making things even harder on Wii. |

1. I think you are early on your 45nm release and profitability date. Though neither directly has an impact on sales.
2. You said they would all happen at some point. True, they already ahve a motion sensing controller and a motion detecting PSEye. You really think they plan to release a 3rd motion based peripheral and that it will impact sales?
3. I'm with you on the price cut though I don't expect it to open the flood gates by more than a 25%-30% increase.
4. Way too early for a slim..if ever. Too early for another price drop too - just 7 months later?
5. That's asking way too much.
Bonus factor - Not in Japan they don't. And more publishers in Japan have switched to Wii from PS3 than they have the other way around. Monster Hunter 3 and Dragon Quest X ring any bells?
Also, why do peopel assume the moment Sony gets PS3 to profitability that they'll drop the price? Wouldn't that completely negate all profitability abd put them right back into the red?
