Am I too late to join the argument here?

The nonsense that certain games should be counted while other should not is pathetic. Frankly pathetic.

I'm GLAD ioi includes pack-ins from all the game companies past and present because a sale is sale is a damn sale. Even Super Mario Bros. 3 was a pack-in for some of its life. So was Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. All companies sweeten the deal by making convenient bundles to move more hardware or more software or both. That's just how business is done.

What are we supposed to sift through what part of sales were separate and what were included from all game systems in history? It's assinine.

First of all there's no telling the motivation for any of those purchases. Did someone see Wii Play and think cool I can get me another controller or did they say hey I like this new game. Which is selling which? Or are both washing each other's hands. Are both the game AND the controller selling the system simultaneously? Those who think it's all about the controller must have not seen people actually have fun with the title. It could be that the controller was the bonus and the game itself was the selling point rather the other way around. LOVE that pool simulator! When I took this to my cousins' house that's all they played was back to back games on Wii Play. Who's selling who here REALLY?

What about the new Slim PSP bundles? Should Crisis Core: FFVII not count because it's a bundle too? It was that bundle and others that helped PSP shock the charts here lately all around the world upending the dominant DS and friend. What about the PSP Slim Daxter bundle? What about the PSP Slim Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron bundle? What about the Family Guy UMD sales that come with it? Should those be stricken off of the record books as well simply because it was bundled?

Every system in history from Sega Genesis to XBox 360 should their bundles and special deals not be counted as well? Should we not count the hardware if bundled with a prize piece of software? What if Microsoft includes the blockbuster Halo 3 in a bundle to boost hardware sales? Should all XBox 360s counted under that combination be stricken from the record books? You're just buying a XBox 360 so you can play Halo 3, after all. You're just buying Wii Play to get an extra controller, after all. Right?

It's bull. The protests are coming from people who do not like this Wiivolution and its effects on the charts. To see the Wii series consistently linger on the chart from week to week irks them because it signals a changing of the guard in this industry. These are people who in their heart of hearts want Nintendo to fail and have wanted Nintendo to fail since generations past. The "why don't they go 3rd party?" contingent.

They can try to manipulate the world all they want but the fact remains Wii Sports is a system seller, Wii Play is a system seller. People actually like the games for what they are REGARDLESS of the bundling. Wii Fit will surpass BOTH of them as system sellers COMBINED and REALLY cause some contention on this board for all of next year as it becomes clearer and clearer that Nintendo is transforming the industry before our very eyes. Moderators get ready 'cause you're gonna be busy pretty soon after Wii Fit hits.

A game sale is a game sale is a daggone game sale. And all should be counted no matter what system or bundle they come from.

Hopefully one day VGChartz will ascertain downloadable sales as well so we can understand that side of the market too.
