There's one big difference: Microsoft hasn't even announced this ''hand gesture'' controller yet. If they would unveil it at E3 or something, thén it might get interesting. We could see an all-out disruptive counter attack-war between Microsoft and Nintendo. And everyone here can forget about too many first party core games by the way because they will both fight for the Wii-audience... It'll be like Nintendo's E3 2008 press conference, only longer...
That is assuming that Microsoft's idea would actually be good enough.
And even then this is pointless because Microsoft could only introduce something like this at the beginning of a generation if they would want any kind of third-party support.
