You made it sound like it was solely to stop Sony.
That ridiculous.
They seen what game consoles and the market was becoming and could become and how that suited their business which is the exact same thing Sony did.
It doesn't make them a bad company for looking to expand their buisness the way Sony did.
Also if you enter a new venture and don't set your sights on toppling the current king then you will fail and no-one will take you seriously.
