I wonder if the original poster comprehends that the the 45nm process also applies to Microsoft, and their chip sets as well. Meaning that Microsoft enjoys the exact same cost savings. Actually Microsoft actually saves more, because their machine was more power intensive, and reduced consumption means they can streamline components such as cooling fans, and the famous power brick.
I also wonder if the original poster has taken into account currency valuation, and the location of manufacturing facilities. The 360 is manufactured in China. The PS3 well a lot of it is manufactured in Japan. Home of the almighty Yen. So somebody is doing better for the recession, and somebody is doing worse. Want to take bets on which one is which.
Also another poster pegged it best the division within Microsoft could have lost money anywhere. Research and Development has a way of you know not actually generating profit. That happens years later, and perhaps not even in the same division. Basically you have no idea what Microsoft was losing money on. You will probably have to wait a couple more years.
Finally I agree with StrategyKing this is completely slanted Fanboy bullshit, and you are both egotistical, and condescending. Everyone has a right to a bad day, but I have a feeling this is one of your better ones. Keep insulting people, and your probably going to be banned. Then who is going to defend Sony with convoluted crap?
