Here's a thread talking about 73 million sellers at GDC:

So, Iwata at GDC in March says 73 million-sellers, fiscal '09 report says 54 million-sellers by the end of March, and VGC lists 51 games as million-sellers as of late April.
Either Iwata is a dirty, dirty liar, or financials are talking about sellthrough and not shipped.
Edit: Or is it possible that there are 19 downloadable games which have sold a million?
