not really but the weak dollar has cost sony around US$100 in yens per PS3 so in a way they did "cut", but it was really a lost because it was not intentional, to ps3 has gotten cheaper in the crisis but consumer didn't notice it.
the dollar at the beginning of the crisis was around 120 yens and got to 86 yens in December so
400*120 = 48000 yens
400*86 = 34400 yens
the difference is around 13600 yens changing is back a 86 to see how much was the lost is US$158 per console, but now is a 98 so is not as much.
anyway this shows that from sony is point of view they already got the price cut, only it was not the price but sony is profits
