Edit statements are a waste of time.

I generally edit a post several times after posting. All they would do is just make my posts take up more space.

You must not have read everything I said..unless you think 1 extra line is too much, then I don't even know how to argue with someone who has that mindset...

I think one line in every post when you have 50 or 100 posts per page is a lot of space.  Also, in many forums it's actually 2 lines.  A blank separating one comes before the edit line.

In that case, I say we link edits to VGC $.  Each edit costs you $5.  Maybe people will read their posts before posting it and stop making unfinished posts that need to be edited 'several times' to be right.  If theres 50 or 100 posts in a thread, and all 50-100 are edited posts, the thread should be closed because something went seriously wrong in it.  Seriously, world-might-end-tomorrow wrong.

I don't see what the big issue with proofreading your post is before you post it.  If you have an issue with the edited line being there, then maybe you'll start to re-read what you have to say before you say it.  If theres really that much editing going on, then at the very least we can use this feature to see how ADHD our crowd really is.  I know I have my moments..

I'm not sure why you would say this.  I make grammar errors all the time or I realize that I phrased something poorly.  As a result I edit my post for clarity.  I wish more people would take the time to reread their posts and fix mistakes after they've posted.  I think the forums would be better for it.

Charging people vg$ to fix their mistakes seems counterintuitive.  If you want a forum full of posts with spelling and grammar errors because no one wanted to pay the vg$ to edit those mistakes then feel free to push for that.  I don't think it would help vgChartz.

In the end, it's a matter of benefit.  What benefit does seeing the edit line give you?  "So&so editted her post 3 times" means exactly what to you... or anyone for that matter?  I can think of actual things which could improve vgChartz like categories for "Reporting a post" to help moderators quickly address circumstances.  A mark on posts which have resulted in the user getting a warning or ban to serve as a warning to other users of what not to do.  The ability to search a specific user's posts and only those posts.  A photo gallery which does not return an error upon uploading an image.

There are plenty of more useful things that can be improved or added in vgChartz's next version.
