I think one line in every post when you have 50 or 100 posts per page is a lot of space.  Also, in many forums it's actually 2 lines.  A blank separating one comes before the edit line.

Then you really should stop overquoting ;)

Don't look at me.  I'm not one of the people regularly making 5 quote deep posts.
