Project Sora is how Nintendo is rewarding Sakurai-san for his excellent work with SSBB. They create a new fully funded studio and give Sakurai 28% of the shares. As such, Sakurai will be able to make much more money with the profits of his upcoming games whereas Nintendo secures Sakurai's brand loyalty.
