Yes, because as well all know, Sony invented the compact disc, directional pads, arcade sticks, and videogame consoles.
Sony's biggest innovation is the Eyetoy. The PS1 was not innovative, or revolutionary. The idea for using CD media for gaming had been around for years, and actually, Nintendo and Sony worked together on it. I'm not entirely sure when the Sega CD came out.
How was the PS1 innovative?
Granted, it was one, if not the best console ever made, but it wasn't very innovative. It just perfected everything, and gave us modern console design.
