Look at the movie industry. Movies made by Pixar which appeal to large audience age groups due great as do films for just strictly a mature audience. Both are great and both generate money. That is the way I believe gaming should and hopefully will be. |
NO!!!
You DO NOT understand. This isn't about appealing to a strict audience. Both those kinds of movies are million dollar investments with tons of work and value put into graphics and technology, as well as epic soundtracks and stuff. The movie industry doesn't really have a "Wii" that revolutionizes anything. There is no new experience.
The Video Game industry however has Nintendo, and the Wii. They are trying to change the way you play games. THAT's why people buy it, because they are made, and marketed as games (and a system) that changes the way you play games into something more fun. It has nothing to do with "casual appeal", assuming that phrase could even be defined.
The Movie industry is not changing the way we watch movies. And that's why you are so confused and fearful of the wrong things. You don't know what "casual" is. No one does, because it doesn't make any sense.
