I would be amazed but Madden didn't beat Halo 3 (or rather had worse start becouse those titles weren't released at the same time).
In its release week Madden sold 1.651 mln (I counted PS2, PS3, Xbox360, Xbox, Wii, PSP and DS versions). Halo made about 2.4 mln in its first day.
And PES is much more praised than Fifa.
