You betcha. Even if he hasn't played Shadow of the Colossus, playing ICO first would be a-okay.

 

Ico is a good suggestion, particularly because he wants something that isn't too long.

 

He also wants something that he'll be able to find  :P

I actually found it the first weekend I decided I wanted it in a Gamestop used section.  Hopefully he'll have the same luck ^^
