Well have a look at the Big 3..

XBOX 360 seems to be having it's peak year 4 years after release.. Instead of the usual 3 which suggests AT LEAST one extra year on top of the usual 5 years. It's also a software beast, Microsoft aren't going to want to take a money maker like the 360 off the market.

PS3 still costs $400.. When you think about the fact that consoles generally sell most of their lifetime sales at a sub $200 price it seems to have a fairly lengthy life.. Plus Sony will want to keep it on shelves for as long as they can as to make back some of the money they've lost.

Nintendo... Well I mean come on.. They're still at launch pricing, haven't had a AAA game for nearly a year now and they're still having their best year yet (not for much longer but it's still impressive) The console is making a shitload of money from hardware and from software. Their worst system, the GameCube had a full 5 year life.. AND only now have they gotten the Wii Remote to be the way they wanted it from the very beginning..

All 3 manufacturers have very good reasons to stay in it for the long haul, Peter Moore is just adding to what we already know
