If I remember correctly that was their entire reason for entering the Video game market in the first place, they wanted to cut in on Sony's market (games) before Sony made the move to transform the PlayStation into a home computer and therefore cut in on Microsoft's market (OS's)

 

What's sad is that some of the fanboys out there see the elimination of competition as a good thing.

You don't understand the idea of competition improving quality? Competition is always a good thing. It's what drives progress.

 

Exactly, and when MS entered the gaming division they made competition, if MS wouldn't have entered to the gaming division the PS3 wouldn't be as viable as it is and you probably had to pay 600$ to play many games that would be exclusive of the PS3, without so many First party titles.
