Mass Effect is basically KotOR without the Star Wards licence, and both of them did between 1 and 2 million. The closest game we have to it this gen is Oblivion, which did just over 2 million.

The difference is that Mass Effect is the best game evar(!!!), and I predict it will slowly and steadily climb to just over 2 million. I'm not making any predictions about first week sales because I don't know much about them, and they don't matter anyway, because life-time sales are around twenty infinities times more important.
